Saliva cortisol across a day shows how your stress hormone changes from morning to evening. A healthy rhythm is high in the morning and low in the evening.
The test is valuable in burnout, sleep problems, and chronic stress. A flattened or inverted rhythm is linked to prolonged stress or burnout syndrome.
What does low Cortisol saliva (4-point) mean?
A flattened rhythm with a low morning value can be seen with prolonged stress, disturbed sleep, shift work, or corticosteroid treatment. Clearly low values should be assessed by a doctor.
What does high Cortisol saliva (4-point) mean?
Raised values, especially in the evening, suggest chronic stress and can disrupt sleep.
