hs-CRP measures very low levels of CRP and captures the chronic low-grade inflammation linked to cardiovascular disease.
hs-CRP is more sensitive than standard CRP and is used for risk assessment rather than acute diagnosis. Measure when well, not during infection - acute inflammation will temporarily push the number sharply higher.
